O médico de ouvido é o otorrinolaringologista, que é responsável pelo diagnóstico e tratamentos de inflamações, infeções, zumbidos, tonturas e outros tipos de problemas na região.
Dependendo da causa, estas perdas podem ser reversíveis ou irreversíveis.
